There is also a simple indirect effect: a slow protein feeding before bed can reduce overnight hunger and help some athletes avoid waking up underfed, which can improve total energy intake consistency and make it easier to hit daily protein targets.

Casein vs whey before bed

Whey is excellent for fast post-training feeding because it is rapidly digested and strongly stimulates muscle protein synthesis. Casein is different.
