The strongest evidence is for skin elasticity and, with vitamin C and pre-loading, tendon/ligament support. Muscle-building claims are weak — collagen is low in leucine.
For connective tissue, taking ~15g with vitamin C 30–60 minutes before training is the protocol studied. For skin, daily timing matters less — consistency does.
